The Situation
A man was given an award because he worked for the government for 20 years! He never actually got the certificate. In fact, he was fired two weeks after the certificate was mailed to him.

The award is given to everyone who has worked for the government for 20 years.
Clue 2
The man worked in a small office of the government’s Department of Health in a small village.
Clue 3
His job was to collect complaints about the Department of Health. Any one could come and fill out a complaint form.
Clue 4
It was a very small village so he was the only person who worked in the whole office.
Clue 5
The certificate was mailed to his office with a letter asking him to call the main office to schedule a congratulatory call from the Minister. The man never wrote back.
Clue 6
Two weeks after sending the certificate, his boss phoned his office. The man didn’t answer the phone or call back.
Clue 7
A few days later, his boss sent a letter telling the man he was fired. He sent it to the man’s home address.
Clue 8
The man called his boss next day, saying it was unfair for him to be fired.
