The Situation
George Wentworth, Vice President of Finance at Trojan Bank, is found dead in his locked office all by himself on the 31st floor.
How was he killed?

Clue 1
Wentworth always gets to the office before 7:00am, in time to read the early morning market reports.
Clue 2
He always locks himself in his office so he can be the first person to see the report and put in trades.
Clue 3
Wentworth’s company had made some bad investments lately. Many people said the Vice President was to blame.
Clue 4
On the day Wentworth died, a courier brought the reports at 7:00 am, as usual. He said Wentworth was in the office kitchen, near the door.
Clue 5
Wentworth came out of the kitchen, took the reports, tipped the courier, and went back into the kitchen.
Clue 6
The courier remembered something odd. Mr. Wentworth was carrying the carafe of coffee from the machine in his hand, but no mug, as if he was about to pour his coffee when he heard the courier.
Clue 7
At 7:30am, Wentworth’s personal assistant came to work as usual. Wentworth’s office door was locked, which was normal.
Clue 8
The assistant noticed the Vice President was in her office and already drinking a mug of coffee. The VP was talking on her phone and saying something about something she had read in the early morning reports.
Clue 9
At 8:00am, the president of the bank called for Wentworth. The assistant tried to put the call through but Wentworth didn’t answer.
Clue 10
After calling a few times, then banging on the door, the assistant called the maintenance department to open the door.
Clue 11
Wentworth was found dead in his chair. The report and his personal coffee mug were on the floor.
Clue 12
Police found a strong poison in Wentworth’s coffee mug.
