Solution to Beaten to Death Clue by Clue

The husband saw the pistol and knew that she had been beaten with it. However, most people would assume that a gun was used to shoot her, not beat her. He didn’t see her wounds.

Remember that the police had taken the body away before the husband arrived. The only way the husband could know she was beaten was if he had done it.
