David stole the statue. He had not thought to get the boss a gift so he had to improvise. He hoped the boss had enough art in his collection that he wouldn’t recognize his own statue, particularly if he chose one that was harder to see in the back row. In fact, the boss didn’t recognize it until his maid told him that a figure was missing!
