Mr. Fulton’s cufflinks were made from two valuable diamonds. That’s why they were white in color and not red as they were supposed to be. Because he didn’t trust banks and was scared of being robbed, he hid his money where no one would think to look for it, in a pair of cufflinks kept at a funeral home. He knew his son would be able to spot the difference because he had been in the singing group with him and would know the uniform well.
